Terrorist Group Hutaree ‘Christian Warriors’ had Horrifying Plans for Michigan

A Militia group based in the US who called themselves the Hutaree, meaning ‘Christian Warriors’, had major plans for a horrifying massacre in Michigan and the eventual overthrow of the US Government.

I caught this story on CNN.com yesterday and I’m surprised it didn’t get much attention… Anyway, the story included a link to the actual Grand Jury Indictment PDF file, so I took a quick read, and man did it ever paint a nightmarish picture of what the Hutaree Militia had planned… And the really scary thing is that they had already made a lot of progress in their plan, and the next major steps were scheduled to happen soon. Luckily law enforcement stepped in when they did, or things could have gone a very different way in the next couple of weeks.

Here’s the story from CNN.com:

'Christian warrior' militia accused in plot to kill police

Nine people federal prosecutors say belong to a "Christian warrior" militia were accused Monday of plotting to kill a Michigan law enforcement officer and then attack other police at the funeral.

A federal grand jury in Detroit, Michigan, indicted six Michigan residents, two Ohioans and an Indiana resident on charges of seditious conspiracy, attempted use of weapons of mass destruction, teaching the use of explosive materials and possessing a firearm during a crime of violence, U.S. Attorney Barbara L. McQuade and Andrew Arena, FBI special agent in charge, announced.

The five-count indictment unsealed Monday charges that since August 2008, the defendants, acting as a Lenawee County, Michigan, militia group called the Hutaree, conspired to oppose by force the authority of the U.S. government.

Attorney General Eric Holder called it "an insidious plan by anti-government extremists."

The group says on its Web site that Hutaree means "Christian warrior" and proclaims on its home page, "Preparing for the end time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive."

In the Web site's "About Us" section, the group says, "We believe that one day, as prophecy says, there will be an Anti-Christ. All Christians must know this and prepare, just as Christ commanded."

According to the indictment, Hutaree members view local, state and federal law enforcement authorities as the enemy and have been preparing to engage them in armed conflict.

The indictment alleges the Hutaree group planned to kill an unidentified law enforcement officer in Michigan and then attack officers who would gather for the funeral.

According to the plan, the indictment said, the Hutaree wanted to use improvised explosive devices to attack law enforcement vehicles during the funeral procession. The indictment said those explosive devices, commonly called IEDs, constitute weapons of mass destruction.
The Indictment PDF file dived a bit deeper into the story, and the details are pretty serious.

This Terrorist group was charged with the following as per the Indictment Document provided in the CNN story (Indictment PDF):

The Defendants acting as a militia group known as the HUTAREE, did knowingly conspire, confederate, and agree with each other and other persons known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to levy war against the United States, to oppose by force the authority of the Government of the United States, and to prevent, hinder, and delay by force the execution of any United States law.
Yes, their plan was to levy war against the United States, and when you read exactly what the plan was, you’ll see how serious they were at engaging in that war.

Please note that I’ve taken quotations of the Hutaree’s plan directly from the Indictment document, and I've provided them below in an order that can properly illustrate the steps.

Step 1:  “Commit some violent act to draw the attention of Law Enforcement or Government Officials.” This act was planned to be one of the following:
a. “Killing a Member of Law Enforcement after a traffic stop”
b. “Killing a Member of Law Enforcement and his or her family at home”
c. “Ambushing a member of Law Enforcement in Rural Communities”
d. “Luring a member of Law Enforcement with a false 911 emergency call and killing him or her.”

Step 2:  At the funeral for the murdered Law Enforcement Officer and/or his or her family, or murdered Government Official, the Hutaree would attack with weapons of mass destruction (“Improvised Explosive Devices” and “Explosively Formed Projectiles”) all funeral procession motorcade vehicles, and the funeral attendees (which would comprise of all Law Enforcement from not only the jurisdiction where the murder occurred, but also from all over the nation as it is well known that whenever an Officer is killed, all Law Enforcement and Government Officials usually try to come out and show their support), as well as the family, friends and members of the community.

Step 3:  After the planned massacre at the Funeral, they planned to “retreat to one of several "rally points" where the Hutaree would wage war against the government and be prepared to defend in depth with trip-wired and command detonated anti-personnel Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), ambushes, and prepared fighting positions.”

This military engagement was believed by the Hutaree “to serve as a catalyst for a more wide-spread uprising against the Government.”

The Hutaree were planning to do some serious damage. If you think about it, if a Cop and his family were brutally murdered for no reason in their home, who would turn up at the funeral? You would definitely get the Brass of the Local and State Police Departments, you would definitely get the Mayor and possibly the Governor, you would get all kinds of Government Officials and figure heads from across the State. You would definitely get every Police Officer that wasn’t absolutely necessary to be on duty. Then you would get important members of the public, family and friends of the victims, community heads and etc. You would also get an outpouring of support and solidarity from other Law Enforcement Offices from across the nation.  So you would have a serious group of important and critical people at this funeral.

And the Hutaree’s plan was to attack and bomb with weapons of mass destruction the funeral and the funeral motorcade procession for the murdered Law Enforcement Officer… Imagine the massacre that an unsuspected and strategically planned military attack could have had on that funeral… They would have had no chance…

The Hutaree’s planned to slaughter them all, essentially destroying all of the leaders of Local and State Law Enforcement, countless Officers thereof, Government Officials like the Mayor and Governor, and all kinds of other influential and critical people, not to mention the public and etc…. It would have been a devastating and horrifying loss for the nation.

And the Hutaree would have been ready for the retaliation from the Government. They already had their “rally points” mapped out and ready-to-go. Judging by the type of weapons and explosives they had ready, they definitely would have done major damage to any remaining members of Local and State Law Enforcement.

As a result of this terrorist action, Michigan would have been thrown into a complete state of emergency and chaos. And what else would one expect to happen when there's no law enforcement around to keep the peace, and no local government officials around to calm the panic? Not to mention that the armed forces are already stretched thin because of the ongoing wars overseas, so even calling them in wouldn't be as easy as it normally would have been.

In truth, there really would have been chaos, and this group with their stockpiled weapons and explosives and etc., would have pretty much had free reign to do whatever their psychotic religious extremist goals were...

Now, this wasn't just some dream concocted and fantasized about by a group of psychotics... This was a very carefully thought-out plan that was developed over time and had already been set into motion.

For example, when they got caught, they had already done the following:

- They had divided themselves into complex military operational units, including the assignment of various ranks and etc.
- They had acquired “firearms, magazines, ammunition, explosives and other components for destructive devices, uniforms, communications equipment, supply and ammunition vehicles, and medical and other supplies.”
- They had engaged in military-style training (via training camps for recruits) “in anticipation for military operations to include firearms and explosives training, weapons proficiency drills, patrolling and reconnaissance exercises, close quarter battle drills, and "man-down" drills, and prepared defensive fighting positions, ambush kill zones, and storage bunkers. During these training sessions, each conspirator in attendance carried and used at least one firearm. This training has also included instruction and demonstrations regarding the manufacturing and use of destructive devices and weapons of mass destruction.”

Again, these terrorists were serious.

On or about February 6th, 2010, many of this terrorist group from around the US attempted to attend a “summit” for the Hutaree in Kentucky where the purpose was “to facilitate better communications, cooperation, and coordination between the various militias.” The Hutaree used this meeting to “solicit a person [they] believed capable of manufacturing destructive devices to provide [them] with four anti-personnel Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) to take with [them] to the summit”.

After this meeting, training camp exercises took place on February 20, 2010 (which were planned to go on throughout Feb and March) where they would prepare for their next missions.

The next phase was to happen in April 2010, where they would perform a reconnaissance mission of the targeted law enforcement officer (who they were planning to murder) and were given the go ahead to kill anyone who might have discovered their plan.

This is when Law Enforcement got involved and took them down. And thank goodness they took them down when they did.

9 Members of the Hutaree were indicted with the following 5 Counts:

Count 1: Seditious Conspiracy
Count 2: Attempt to use Weapons of Mass Destruction
Count 3: Teaching/Demonstrating Use of Explosive Materials
Counts 4 & 5: Carrying, Using, and Possessing a Firearm during and in relation to a Crime of Violence.

Now, something about Count #1 really bothers me here. I was expecting to see a Charge of Treason, and not Seditious Conspiracy as there is a huge difference between the two in regards to definition, and punishment.

Here is the difference between Sedition and Treason as per Wikipedia (Sedition - Wikipedia):

The difference between sedition and treason consists primarily in the subjective ultimate object of the violation to the public peace. Sedition does not consist of levying war against a government nor of adhering to its enemies, giving enemies aid, and giving enemies comfort. Nor does it consist, in most representative democracies, of peaceful protest against a government, nor of attempting to change the government by democratic means (such as direct democracy or constitutional convention).

Sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Treason is the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state, giving aid to enemies, or levying war against one's state.
It is clear from the indictment document that the goal of the Hutaree was to wage war against the US Government and to eventually overthrow it, and therefore if we go by the definition as noted above, clearly their actions fall under Treason and definitely not under Seditious Conspiracy. I mean, what could be a more clear form of treason than that?

And just for overkill on the subject, here's the Legal Definition of Treason as per Wikipedia (Treason - Wikipedia):

In law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more serious acts of betrayal of one's sovereign or nation. Historically, treason also covered the murder of specific social superiors.

Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as: "...[a]...citizen's actions to help a foreign government overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." In many nations, it is also often considered treason to attempt or conspire to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved by such an endeavour.

Article III Section 3 [of the United States Constitution] delineates treason as follows:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.
So, to me, “levying War against [the United States]” and “conspiring to overthrow the government, even if no foreign country is aided or involved”, is exactly what the Hutaree were planning to do, and was their overall goal. And that, my friends, is defined as Treason, not Seditious Conspiracy.

The one other thing that really bothered me about this story is the fact that NOT ONCE in the entire original article from CNN (and from many other news organizations around the world) did they mention the word "Terrorist" when they referred to this militia group. I just couldn’t understand that…

Anyway, CNN rectified that today (unfortunately for me as I had about a page worth of things to say about that, and now I can’t) with a story where they now say that the group was not Militia, but were in fact a Terrorist Organization. Here's the story, in case you're interested, Group arrested not Christian or militia, insider says.

For more information on the Hutaree and their Religious Extremist views, take a look at their website at Hutaree.com. One of the scariest things that I found on that website was when you click on a link to Adjutant Briefing, there is quote at the top that I won’t go into here, but it has horrifying implications…

I hope that they find any remaining members of this Terrorist Organization because these guys are serious, and they apparently have all kinds of plans to destroy society as we know it…
