Here's the story from the Toronto Sun:
Funeral home, not city, to help with Haim expenses
The City of Toronto says it has “no involvement” in the funeral costs for actor Corey Haim.
In a statement issued this morning, the city said is has never received an application for assistance with Haim’s funeral costs.
The city notes that while it does cover funeral costs for indigent people, an evaluation of the person’s estate is done before any assistance is provided.
But a Jewish memorial chapel says it will help defray the costs of the funeral.
An administrator with the Steeles Memorial Chapel says it will do whatever it can to assist the actor’s family in its time of need.
